Não considero presidentes figuras muito importantes; são a cara para bater do governo, mas os EUA sempre foram esse complexo industrial-militar onde o Estado, antes de agir, consulta o Pentágono, e vê se ele suporta mais ou menos as pressões sociais contra o apartheid recial ou guerras imperialistas. Olho para o Lyndon e não vejo aquilo que, creio, você devesse ver no Jimmy Carter, que até tentou trazer os EUA, politicamente, para o século XX, mas nesse campo não tem jeito: eles continuam no século XIX, e nos campos em que possuíam a primazia, o tecnológico e o econômico, já estão a disputar posições com a China, a Índia e até a Alemanha, enquanto o Japão lhes faz companhia.

Duas observações: primeiro, mesmo que seja sobre McNamara, secretário de defesa de LBJ, o documentário The Fog of War é imperdível; segundo, LBJ foi o último presidente democrata a receber os votos eleitorais de Utah, atual estado mais republicano.

Os piores presidentes americanos foram Lincoln, Wilson, Franklin e Theodore Roosevelt.

Os melhores foram Washington, Jefferson, Coolidge e Reagan.

LBJ não está entre os 10 melhores, mas também não está entre os 10 piores.

Meu medo é o Alex começa a se interessar pela história russa. Vai que ele começe a gostar de Stalin, Lenin, Pedro o Grande, Ivan o Terrível...

Só o que eu sei da História: que foi ele quem deu uma ordem direta para as universidades do Alabama aceitarem alunos negros. Se foi ideia dele ou apenas ficou famoso com isso, não sei, só pesquisando. E a teoria da conspiração de que mataram o Kennedy por que ele ia acabar com a guerra do Vietnã e deixaram o LBJ ser presidente por que sabiam que ele não iria fazer isso.

Eu até tinha mas limpei o cu com ela.

Now in my view, if you were to line up the Presidents in the order of who made the greatest accomplishments, you’d put Lyndon Johnson in that arena with both Roosevelts probably, and Lincoln and so on. But the idea that Lyndon Johnson was operating as a free agent and coming up with these ideas on his own is nonsense. Johnson was responding to a black freedom movement that was tearing the country open and he did what he had to do as a conservative politician. But I see Johnson as the war in Vietnam, and the invasion of the Dominican Republic and so on.

Existe um documentário muito bom chamado Fog of War, conhece?

É um longo depoimento de Robert Mcnamara, que era o secretário da defesa de Kennedy e Johnson, sobre essa história toda do vietnã. Se vc gosta do gajo, vale a pena ver o filme.

Whats rough now is how the programmed appearance to ones life is not changed. You know what I mean? It is nearly as if we walk through our lives with blinders on, not appreciating the true fate of our own existence.

If you really want you can look the other way and not talk about it. Don't give up your morals for anything. This will lead to a sad and unfulfilling life.

Have you noticed the news has changed its approach recently? Now it seems that it is discussed thoroughly and more in depth. Frankly it is about time we see a change.

Relying on your instanct is tough for most of us. It can take many people a long time to build a strong moral system. Its not the sort of thing that simply just happens.

Over and over again I like to think about this difficulties. In fact it was not even a week ago that I was thinking about this very situation. Frankly, what is the answer though?

Understanding to the beginning of a problamatic solution starts with finding the solution. While may seem ambigious but most problems exist from the premise, not the conclusion.

This is a good subject to talk about. Generally when I come across these sort of things I like to post them on Digg. I don't think this would be the best to submit though. I'll look around and find another article that may work.

You need to get upset! Get motivated and get pissed off. This will help you stay above the curve.

This is a different sort of opinion that many people don't usually talk about. Sometimes I fav stuff like this on Redit. This article probably won't do well with that crowd. I will be sure to submit something else though.

Relying on your instanct is tough for most of us. It takes years to build confidence. It doesn't really just happen if you know what I mean.
