Até os lavabos andam mandões – ou você nunca foi surpreendido pelo "duas folhas são o bastante para secar suas mãos"? Eu sempre penso que, se alguém precisa que um adesivo lhe diga quantas toalhas deve usar para a secar as mãos, é sinal de que não está pronto para esse nível de sofisticação da higiene pessoal.

Gente que gosta de cagar regras sempre me incomodou, mas não ter sossego nem na santa intimidade de uma privada é algo novo na minha vida. Depois de um mês viajando pelas Zorópas, descobri que WC falante é coisa de brasileiro (se bem que os japoneses botam a louça sanitária até para ler as notícias do dia).

Em shoppings, museus, bares e restaurantes, banheiro europeu é mudo. Não há adesivos esfregando na sua cara que você é um desperdiçador de água ou papel. Nada nas paredes ou na pia. Tudo é feito na maior discrição: a torneira tem sensor de movimento, o papel toalha sai em porções suficientes, a descarga – pasme! – se dá sozinha. Em lugares públicos, toaletes têm até máquinas de camisinha e de absorventes. Tudo é limpo, high-tech e silencioso.

Aqui, quando você tirou a sorte grande de encontrar um banheiro em condições mínimas de uso, quase sempre ele está entupido, com a descarga quebrada ou sem papel – às vezes, tudo isso junto e mais alguém fazendo barulhos estranhos na cabine ao lado. Nessas horas, ao menos um alerta não deve passar despercebido: não se esqueça de apagar a luz.

O povo daqui não é tão conscientizado quanto o de lá... nem os governantes...

Foi o que eu reparei, Marília. Por aqui, não somos lá muito ecológicos, estamos enverdecendo aos poucos. De maneira geral, os europeus são superverdes: há coleta seletiva em tudo o que é esquina, eles fazem economia de água e quase não usam sacolas plásticas. Por lá, ir ao supermercado com uma sacola retornável nem é cool, é o óbvio ululante.

Olha só, quando eu estive na Europa em 98, reparei que em muitos banheiros, especialmente os públicos, o nome da marca da louça (pias, privadas e até os charmosos e demodês bidês) era o meu sobrenome: Köhler.
Muitas e muitas vezes lavei as mãos ou fiz xixi lendo meu sobrenome, o que gera uma sensação no mínimo engraçada e curiosa.
Teve até uma ocasião em Lisboa em que a moça de uma loja perguntou se eu era da família da tal fabricante de louças. Se eu quisesse me divertir um pouco (ou soubesse como sustentar uma lorota por mais de dez segundos, coisa que realmente até hoje não aprendi, porque meu riso sempre me entrega), teria falado que sim. Mas seria no mínimo ridículo ou o cúmulo da cara de pau, já que eu estava pechinchando na loja há vários minutos. rs
Não sei se ainda hoje esta marca tem relevância, mas imagino que sim.
