Inspirada pelo debate que tive com um argentino semana passada, onde ele fez questão de desfazer o mito de time "que dá certo" nutrido por aqui em relação ao Boca, escrevi esse texto para o blog hermano Extremisimo. Estou com preguiça de traduzir, mas, se for realmente necessário, me avisem, que eu ponho o Jones pra trabalhar.
Boca Juniors, para los brasileños, no es un equipo de fútbol.
Boca Juniors, para nosotros, es la materialización del fútbol.
Hablo del fútbol que vive en nuestras mentes, en nuestros sueños, en nuestros pies y campos amadores por todo el país. El fútbol que nos hace quedar en colas infinitas para comprar el ingreso a la cancha. Que nos lleva a los estadios en días de sol y de lluvia y no nos deja deprimir cuando el fútbol que vemos en nuestras canchas no se parece con el que vive en nuestros sueños. El fútbol de Boca.
Y ahora ya no sé más que pensar, porque creo que los brasileños no están tan acertados de que Boca Juniors le da vida a ese fútbol ideal, con raza, con ganas, la felicidad pura.
Porque cuando Fluminense eliminó a São Paulo en el último minuto del partido del 21 de mayo, mi primera reacción fue decir “bueno, Boca es el campeón de América de nuevo”. Mira que soy hincha de São Paulo y todavía tengo en mente la buenísima noche de septembre de 2007 cuando eliminamos a Boca por la Copa Sudamericana. Vencer Boca no es fácil, pero tampoco imposible para nosotros. Fluminense, sin la misma tradición y experiencia con el enfrentamiento del temido gigante de Buenos Aires, bailaria un tango diferente.
Sin embargo, Matias sonó la alarma. “Si Fluminense eliminó a ustedes, puede pasar el mismo con nosotros.” Fotógrafo en San Martín de los Andes, es el único hombre entre los cuatro hijos de su padre, y cree en la máxima sobre el equipo de La Bombonera: “Uno no nace hincha de Boca, se hace hincha de Boca.”

Si, hizo un montón de errores, principalmente los defensores, y Renato Gaúcho, el entrenador, se ponía visiblemente nervioso. Pero que más esperamos de alguien en la noche más importante de su nueva profesión?
Fue la más importante desde el miércoles anterior, y el próximo miércoles será aún más importante. En siete días, ese equipo que ni siquiera participó del torneo en los últimos veinte y pocos años eliminó el mayor campeón brasileño de la Libertadores y sacó un empate fuera de casa con el actual dueño de América. Alguien duda con verdadera convicción que el Maracanã será palco de más una historia de éxito de Brasil sobre Argentina? Matias, y ahora yo también, no.
